Employees from UK corporate events company MotivAction, based in
Hertfordshire, took an award trip in aid of corporate social
responsibility (CSR) recently.
A strong advocate of the
importance of CSR in the events industry, MotivAction underlined its
policy with an inventive employee reward and recognition scheme that
sets an example to companies both in and outside live marketing.
The
trip saw seven winners of the company’s internal reward and recognition
scheme volunteer at the Daktari bush school and wildlife orphanage in
South Africa.
Located in the Limpopo region of the country, two hours west of Kruger
National Park, the Daktari facility cares for orphaned or injured wildlife.
Its
aim is also to educate and inspire children to look after their
environment, hosting children from an under-privileged local village
and providing them with opportunities to learn.
The volunteers
from MotivAction helped to build an animal feeding paddock at Daktari,
as well as a football pitch and rope swing for the children. In
addition to feeding and maintaining the animals, the delegates also
worked at the school, giving the children lessons in English, geography
and maths. The children were also able to try out one of MotivAction’s
team building games – the artistic ‘Bigger Picture’ – which was run by
the winners of MotivAction’s motivation scheme.
MotivAction’s
internal reward and recognition scheme, WoW, enables anyone in the
company to recognise colleagues for exceptional performance and living
the brand’s values. Through weekly and monthly prize draws,
participants also gain the chance to win a place on an annual trip. To
complement the company’s CSR and environmental policies, MotivAction
wanted its latest prize to have a charitable focus. Due to the long
haul nature of the trip, carbon offsets were also purchased from
Climate Care.
