The Earls Court Boat Show to unveil rebrand at Cowes Week

The Sail, Power & Watersports Show at Earls Court, formerly known as The Earls Court Boat Show, will be launching its new look to the sailing community during Skandia Cowes Week 2008 in August as it is an Official Associate of the regatta.

In its original guise, the event faced stiff competition from the London Boat Show, which is held annually at ExCeL and run by the British Marine Federation. This rebrand is more than likely aimed at resurrecting a show that underperformed last year and further differentiating the show from its rival.

“This official association will help us to communicate with a key audience of more than 100,000 visitors to Skandia Cowes Week, and it follows our successful participation in the event as competitors in 2007,” said the show’s managing director James Brooke, who recently drove a Cougar race boat to win the Plymouth Grand Prix of the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Powerboat Championship for Team Earls Court. “All competitors can look forward to receiving a Privilege card for our show in November, and I'm sure crews will be meeting up in the Guinness Bar at Earls Court."

Meanwhile, Michelle Warner, sales and marketing director of Skandia Cowes Week said she was pleased with the new partnership, adding: “This association will assist in the promotion of their show while helping us to deliver increased value to the thousands of competitors and visitors to our regatta."

The Sail, Power & Watersports Show has also formed a new partnership with RIB International Magazine to create a special experience at the event. The RIB International RIB Zone will host a wide range of manufacturers, with many big-name RIB brands already committed to the show.

"This is definitely set to be, ‘a not to be missed’ feature of the 2008 show,” said RIB editor Hugo Montgomery-Swan. “We'll be publishing more information about this exciting new initiative in RIB International Magazine and on our website www.ribmagazine.com as it becomes available."

Although The Sail, Power & Watersports Show has a new name, it’s vision of being than a boat show remains the same. Consequently, this year it will once again provide a mix of new product and innovation, headline entertainment, interactivity and learning experiences, hospitality and Christmas buying opportunities to visitors when it takes place in London on 26-30 November 2008.

Brooke has also continued his relationship with last year’s show sponsor Whyte & Mackay, which has been unveiled as the official whisky of the rebranded event, while Carlsberg will be the official lager.
