Melville Exhibition and Event Services has secured a major seven-year deal to continue managing mains electrical services for ExCeL London.

The announcement of this multimillion pound contract comes hot on the heels of news of the acquisition of Melville by GES Exposition Services of the US and follows the announcement of a string of other significant contract wins.

“We’ve hit the ground running in 2007 and this renewal of our contract with ExCeL shows that we have not broken stride as a result of the GES acquisition,” said Melville chief executive Nick Marshall. “This extends the relationship with ExCeL that started back in the late nineties when the venue was still in the design stage. It is a testament to the excellent service levels we have delivered to the venue and to venue clients.”

Melville has been managing the mains contract at ExCeL since the venue opened in 2000. The news of renewal comes at a time when ExCeL is moving ahead with plans for its second phase and as the area of London around the venue gears up for the 2012 Olympics. “We’re delighted to announce that we have re-appointed Melville as our mains services contractor,” said ExCeL Chief Executive Jamie Buchan. “Both ExCeL and Melville treat this relationship as a partnership to deliver world class services to our customers.”

The new contract is for seven years and runs through 31st March 2014. It includes the provision of mains, piped, rigging and mark out services.

“It is coupled with a new conference package relationship which means that we will be working with the venue to support the growing conference market and this will facilitate further the expansion of Melville’s offering in London,” added Marshall.
