Staff from UK venue company The NEC Group marked a successful year of fundraising recently, handing a cheque for more than £27,000 to The Prostate Cancer Charity.

Throughout the year, employees from across the group took part in a number of different fundraising activities, from mental and physical challenges, to a 5km trek and a charity shave (presumably involving just the male staff members).

In total, a cheque for £27,569.20 – including £3,000 as part of the NEC Group's ongoing corporate responsibility strategy – was presented to The Prostate Cancer Charity’s corporate partnerships assistant Lisa Clark.

“Throughout the year, our employees go out of their way to support The NEC Group's chosen charity, and I would like to extend my thanks to each and every member of our amazing team who has contributed towards this total," said the NEC Group's chief executive Paul Thandi.

Commenting on the donation, Clark said: "I am so pleased to be collecting this cheque on behalf of The Prostate Cancer Charity. This is an incredible amount of money, and we have been very lucky to have worked with The NEC.

“I would like to give special thanks to Nadine Donald for her incredible commitment to the Charity. The money raised means that we can continue to support the men and their families affected by prostate cancer in Birmingham and the UK."

NEC Group employees have already started collecting for this year's nominated charity, the Birmingham Children's Hospital.
