Leading education ICT provider RM has launched its first ever roadshow to showcase the latest, must-have hardware and software to schools and colleges across the UK.

The in-demand RM Asus miniBook – the lightweight £169 laptop which sold 6,000 devices within weeks of arriving in the UK – is just one of the products carried on the 8.7-metre mobile exhibition unit, created and managed by specialists Event Marketing Solutions (EMS).

The hi-tech unit, featuring an on-board server, a 42” plasma screen and 11 PCs, laptops and tablet devices – was launched in January and continues touring until mid-March.

It will visit 24 schools and colleges nationwide – targeting customers within a wide catchment area of each venue.

The seven-week tour – sponsored by Intel – offers ICT and teaching staff, pupils and parents the chance to try out RM’s latest product hands-on.

Mobile learning: RM takes technology to schools

Feedback from the early venues has been extremely positive, with many visitors commenting on the value of being able to try the products first-hand.

This is the first time that RM has used a mobile exhibition vehicle to showcase its products and services.

“We exhibit at the BETT education technology show in London every January, but realise that not all of our customers can come and see us there,” said RM marketing director Nick Stacey. “The roadshow offers the ideal way for us to take our innovative new products directly to our target audience – ensuring more of them can enjoy that all-important hands-on experience. We are particularly delighted with the mobile unit itself, which is attracting a great deal of interest wherever it goes.”

Commenting on RM’s first foray on the road, Justin Isles, account director at EMS, said: “A roadshow is perfect for showcasing this diverse range of technology. In a face-to-face environment, customers can get a full understanding of which product suits their individual needs. This particular vehicle uses air-ride suspension to ensure that the sensitive technology on board arrives in perfect working order.”

The RM ICT tour launched at the company’s Oxfordshire headquarters at the end of January and concludes today at Ridgeway High School, Wirral, Merseyside.
