London has re-established its position as one of the top luxury destinations, according to Visit London. To prove its point, the organisation invited 20 luxury travel specialists from the US and Europe to the capital to experience the best it has to offer in the luxury market.

Jacques Cofsman of Imagine le Monde, France said that it made him see London in a new light. I was really impressed with the hotels, he said. Weve seen a new generation of them. I have also changed my mind about British food. Furthermore, the traffic was much better than in Paris and even the weather was good!

The hosted buyers from North America flew into London courtesy of the all-business-class MaxJet Airlines and stayed at the five-star Waldorf Hilton and London Hilton hotels on Park Lane, as well as The Grove in Hertfordshire, an impressive Grade Two listed country house hotel and spa.

The European buyers, stayed at the five-star Athenaeum Hotel in Mayfair, the elegant Royal Park hotel on Westbourne Terrace just north of Hyde Park, the luxurious Plaza on the River apartments on Londons riverside and The Grove.

The groups visited the new IceSpace attraction and venue on the south bank of the River Thames, as well as the Science Museum and Pinewood Studios. Plus there was a Champagne flight on the British Airways London Eye and a trip to Guys and Dolls at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Sue Bertram, general manager sales and convention services at Visit London, said: London is a world class destination, and for leisure or business travellers looking to indulge themselves, luxury London offers everything from Michelin star restaurants to the grandest hotels.

The trip coincided with the Premium Travel Show at the Royal Albert Hall on 27 and 28 April, whereVisit London joined forces with Royal Ascot.
