Specialist event production and high-impact branding company GTMS was celebrating recently after receiving ISO14001 accreditation.
The company successfully completed its annual external audit conducted by BSI and was awarded this important certification after showing continual commitment to sustainability and the environment.
ISO 14001 is an international environmental management standard that outlines how a company should measure, record and manage its impacts on the environment. To gain the certification, companies must set out a plan to manage and continually improve their environmental performance.
"We are delighted to gain this certification and have made it one of our priorities this year,” said GTMS director Dominik Short. “Companies are not yet required by law to have ISO 14001, however, by having environmental practices in place, approved by outside experts, we can demonstrate our commitment to sustainability to existing and potential clients, who are beginning to put this at the forefront of their business agendas.
"Waste segregation and recycling have both been a huge focus for the company along with staff training, to ensure our staff are more aware of our impact on the environment,” he continued. “Our next goal is to attain ISO 9001, an accreditation for quality and Investors in People."
Throughout the auditing process, GTMS followed the 'Plan, Do, Check and
Act' mechanism, as prescribed by all BSI developed standards, and reviewed all its previous jobs to identify any areas that could be improved on and introduced into future projects.
