With still two and a half years to go before it opens, The Convention Centre, Dublin (CCD) is celebrating securing The European Union Geriatric Medicine Society’s (EUGMS’s) conference, which will take place in the first month of the venue’s life in September 2010.

More than 750 delegates are scheduled to attend this three-day meeting. Launched in 2001, the EUGMS represents 25 countries across Europe and aims to promote research and education, continue professional development, and represent the speciality to European Union and national governments.

“We are immensely pleased and very proud to be hosting the EUGMS in our opening month in 2010,” said Catherine Newhall-Caiger, director of international sales and the CCD. “This conference will provide us with a real opportunity to demonstrate our stunning iconic conference centre and showcase exactly what the CCD and the city of Dublin have to offer delegates.”

Nicola McGrane, managing director of Conference Partners, which is organising the conference, was thrilled to be one of the first organisers to use the venue. “I would like to thank the CCD team for their help and support in securing this prestigious conference for Dublin,” she said. “We look forward to working with them over the next two years to ensure that our first conference at The Convention Centre, Dublin is a true success.”
