Well, that got you to take a closer look!

On Wednesday this week one Simon Kimble was to be found emerging from the heather of Frilford Heath Golf Course (and the Secretary’s Office fax machine) having signed off on the deal that secured Clarion Events’ acquisition of the Reed Defence portfolio (including DSEi, LAAD, and ITEC).

The Clarion CEO was participating in the exhibition industry's golfing cabal – the Expros Golfing Society – where cameraman, Fergus Mitchell of Anymedia, was hosting the society’s West of England Championship. Whoever said you can’t mix a few million quid of business acquisition with the pleasure of your mates in the open air?

The picture below shows defending champion Nigel Nathan, EIA Chair and Earls Court and Olympia supremo, relinquishing his grip on the stunning gold-plated trophy, itself worth a fair few bob, following his outstanding performance at the Expros East Anglian Open which he won in April, destroying a highly competitive field at Pudiss Heath near Ipswich.

Left to right: Nathan, Whalley, Greetham, Marshall, Kimble and
ER’s Latham are the last left standing for the post-match
photoshoot after a heavy session of Clarion cork-popping!

The champagne continued to flow late into the afternoon as Kimble celebrated his much-anticipated acquisition. Let`s hope his grip of Clarion’s latest sporting appliances fare better than his own ball-hunting!

CAPTION COMPETITION: What`s Kimble saying? Best idea via the `Readers Comments` facility at the bottom of this page wins a free pair of Maui Jim sunglasses worth £140!
To be judged Friday 6 June.
