Companies looking to hold a conference in the Leeds area can now plan their event online, following the launch of www.conference-leeds.com.

Organisers can search venues by criteria, such city centre location, accommodation and room layout. They are also able to make an online venue enquiry and book for forthcoming conferences over the internet.

The Yorkshire city also boasts a new Conference Guide, updated to include an overview of future and proposed facilities, a guide to corporate hospitality in Leeds and a taster of what Leeds has to offer to entertain delegates once business is over.

This extra help for event organisers comes prior to several initiatives that will change the face of business tourism in Leeds. The New Year will see in the opening of Hall2 at the Royal Armouries, the opening of a new conference facility at the Hilton Leeds City and a number of hotels being added to the city’s already varied choice of venues.

Commenting on the developments, Nicky Lockwood, Conference Leeds Manager, said: “Leeds is constantly evolving both commercially and from a business tourism point of view. With the recent promotion to the top 30 European destinations for business, companies are starting to pay attention to what we have on offer and finding there is more than meets the eye.

“Last year the city played host to a range of organisations, local, national and international. We have welcomed the International Association of Policewomen, Women in Property and the National HIV Nurses Association in the last 12 months and are looking forward to working with companies such as Academy of Sustainable Communities and the Council for European Urbanism in the coming year.”

The Conference Leeds team offers informed and up-to-the-minute advice, plus free familiarisation visits, a free accommodation booking service and an impartial guide to all venues in Leeds.
