All carpet laid by events organisation Opex Group will now be totally recyclable. Elea Vel recyclable flooring has been introduced by Exoplan, the group’s carpet services division, as standard across all shows. This, combined with the use of carpet tiles, now means that the company’s goal of reaching a zero tolerance status to non-recyclable carpet has been achieved.
“In the past it had been difficult to find a recyclable floor-covering product that could meet the performance, colour and price criteria demanded by our customers,” explained Exoplan’s managing director, Peter Donovan. “Now we have the answer that is exclusive to Opex – Elea Vel carpet.
“Its unique construction means that it has a velour finish that lays without rucks and is extremely durable, while at the same time delivering a quality look and feel. It is available in the standard colours, can be dyed to match any colour required and can also be printed.”
Elea Vel has already proved it is up to the toughest of jobs. It was used in the main gangway at The Ideal Home Exhibition in April 2006 and is due to be laid at The Boat Show in January 2007. “Both shows need a particularly durable floorcovering, because they have long opening hours and extremely heavy footfall,” Donovan commented.
Elea Vel carpet is made from 100% polypropylene that can be easily broken down into plastic pellets used in the construction of various items, such as car parts, flowerpots or even plastic crates.
“Opex has always been committed to reducing waste and its impact on the environment,” said Opex Group managing director Andy Gibb. “This new and exclusive product offers a viable solution to today’s more environment conscious customer.”
