QD Events (formerly Clarion Events [Scotland]) has appointed Melville Exhibition Services as the exclusive supplier of shell scheme, electrical, furniture, floorcovering and graphic services to all their events in Scotland.

The appointment follows hot on the heels of the recent announcement by Scottish Exhibition Centre (SEC) that it had acquired the balance of the shares in Clarion Events (Scotland), the 50/50 joint venture company that it formed with London-based Clarion Events Limited in 2003.

The appointment, which covers seven shows, including The Baby Show Scotland, The Scottish Wedding Shows and The Scottish Caravan and Outdoor Leisure Show, covers a three-year period starting this autumn.

Margaret Cowan, operations manager for QD Events, commenting on Melville’s appointment, said: “We are delighted to appoint Melville as our general service contractor. With a full-service operation based here in Glasgow, Melville is uniquely positioned to provide the very best levels of service to our events. We look forward to working with the Melville team in Scotland to create great looking shows that inspire both our exhibitors and visitors."

Nick Marshall. Melville’s chief executive, was delighted with the appointment. “We have always enjoyed an excellent working relationship with SEC, which, over a number of years, has created a world class event and entertainment centre in Glasgow," he said. "The appointment vindicates our decision to maintain a local full service operation servicing the exhibition market north of the border. What's more, it comes on the back of a significant investment in our Scottish operation in new state-of-the-art graphics technology and shell scheme stocks, further enhancing our service capabilities in Scotland”.
