Reed Exhibitions scrambled home against a powerful Earls Court and Olympia team to secure the inaugural Sticky Wicket seven-a-side cricket tournament, held recentlly in Regents Park, with just one ball remaining.

More importantly, Mervyn Ramsay, the inspiration and powerhouse behind the initiative, handed over a cheque for £21,000 to the President of The Lords Taverners to add cheer to a wonderful day`s fun and entertainment in aid of giving a sporting chance to disadvantaged children.

Winning Captain, Graeme Barnett was quick to extend his thanks to Mervyn and his team for organising the event which, aside from inclement weather, was faultless and as is customary within the sector extended to a memorable knees-up at The Volunteer pub in Baker Street immediately after the tournament had ended. The Sticky Wicket teams were each awarded a cricketing or other celebrity including former England batsmen Robin Smith and Alan Lamb, and Strictly Come Dancing bad boy, Brendan Cole.

“The Sticky Wicket has been a wonderful initiative for helping less fortunate children than our own and I cannot compliment them enough for all the hard work and effort that they have invested in giving us such a great day,” commented Barnett. “We`re looking forward to entering a team for the
winter indoor version of the event for which offers of venues were coming in
immediately after the tenth celebratory pint last night!”

EVENTS:review sends its congratulations to the organisers, and the Reed Exhibitions Team and of course will advise of dates for the next Sticky Wickets shortly. More information is at www.stickywicket.org
