Andrew Morris, formerly chief executive of - if somewhat briefly - the NEC and Earls Court Olympia, has surfaced as the new non-executive chairman of VCM Events, the Sussex-based event management company. Currently organising five events each year - including The Grass Roots Football Show and the recent EMAP/VCM joint venture Broadcast LIVE & VideoForum - the company says the appointment "signifies our commitment to becoming a major player in the exhibitions and events industry". "This is a very exciting time for us and creates the opportunity to expand the skills and roles of the great people working here," said Henri Cash, chief executive of VCM Events. "In turn, this will fuel the ongoing development of our current range of exhibitions and create a powerful foundation for the planned launch of a series of exciting new live events." Commenting on his new position, Morris said: "Having got to know the team at VCM, I am impressed with their energy and enthusiasm. Through their single-minded creation of a range of extremely well-established exhibitions, they have shown a determination I have rarely seen. I'm really looking forward to working with them."
